Paddle with a Purpose
This program is designed to not only get our community out into the watershed but also spark an interest in ecology, and promote dialogue regarding our place in the environment. Community boat trips exploring different sections of the river allow the participants to learn about the various issues facing the Mad River as they enjoy a day paddling the river.
K-12 Field School Program
Designed to introduce basic ecological concepts while providing hands on learning. Students will learn how interactions between the physical and biological are shaping who and what can live in a given ecosystem. Students will also learn where their water comes from, and the array of systems engineered to get that water to the fountain in their school.
Citizen Research and Restoration
There are gaps in biological and water quality monitoring programs in the Mad River. Partnering with local, state, and federal agencies the Alliance is working to rejuvenate biological and augment water quality monitoring programs within the Mad River Watershed.
Our team of stewards and experts hold polluters responsible for their actions.
The conservation team holds bi-monthly clean-ups as well as two larger clean-ups a year. Earth Day and Coastal Clean-up Day have brought out many volunteers each year to pick up litter in the watershed. For more information on our river clean-ups, contact us!
